Happy Days! The Den Is Coming Back To RTÉ This Year

Nature is healing

We’re not going to talk about how awful 2020 has been (it’s been really, really awful), what we are going to talk about is how great it’s about to get, as RTÉ’s The Den is preparing to be back on our screens this November.

For those of us who grew up on a diet of The Den and Banshee Bones, this news quite literally couldn’t come at a better time. The face of our childhood, Ray D’Arcy took to Twitter to announce the news, tweeting:

“THE DEN IS COMING BACK. Ray has just announced that 33 years after Zig and Zag came into our lives, The Den is coming back to our screens”

So, when can we wear our favourite PJs and get ourselves set up on the couch? I hear you cry. Well, it has been confirmed that the first show will air on Sunday, the 8th of November on RTÉ One at 6.30pm.

The first-ever episode of The Den aired in 1986, with Ian Dempsey hosting it for four years before Ray D’Arcy took over in 1990. Back in June Ray and the boys, Zig and Zag reunited for a special reunion sketch as part of  RTÉ Does Comic Relief (Remember, Dustin The Turkey slagged Niall Horan and suddenly the US-based Niall fandom had a hit out for Dustin and Ray??), well the sketch went down so well that RTÉ decided to bring the show back on a more permanent basis, giving it a permanent weekend slot.

Upon hearing the news, over on Twitter, people were collectively losing their shit.
