Harry Styles Is Pleasing – Why His Move Into Sexual Wellness Is Very On Brand
Watermelon sugar..... high
In 2019, when Harry Styles – former One Direction heartthrob turned solo sensation – dropped Watermelon Sugar, he played coy about the track’s juicier subtext. In an interview, he casually claimed the song was about “the sweetness of life,” before quickly tacking on, “It’s also about the female orgasm, but that’s totally different. It’s not really relevant.
But on July 21st, 2025, the female orgasm seemed far from irrelevant to Harry. That day, his brand Pleasing was very pleased to announce a new sensual collection – and this one was definitely for those playing at home.
Departing from the usual lineup of innocent nail polish, vibrant tees, and glossy lip balms, Styles had fans screaming with surprise (and maybe anticipation) as he launched a personal lubricant and a double-sided vibrator. The intimate products were co-designed with sex educator Zoë Ligon, with the shared mission “to delight a kaleidoscope of bodies, desires, and curiosities.”
So, the Pleasing Lube is FDA-approved and made with silicone, making it safe to use with condoms and non-silicone toys – plus, it promises a long-lasting moisture boost for all kinds of intimate play. However, there’s a slight catch: it’s not ideal to pair with the Pleasing Vibrator, which is also made from soft silicone. As sex educator Ligon advises, when using silicone toys, it’s best to opt for a water-based lube to avoid any unwanted chemical reactions that can occur when silicone meets silicone.
Aside from that small caveat, the pleasure tools are intuitively functional and visually unique – featuring a trendy burgundy shade, a sleek silicone structure, and soft pink accents that call to mind the sweet pairing of cherries and watermelon.
You might say, “Well, that’s an unexpected change.” And we’d agree – it was an unexpected move from Harry Styles. But given the times we’re living in, where female sexual desire is finally getting the attention it deserves, maybe it’s not all that surprising after all – especially when you consider that he’s far from the first celebrity to step into the sexual wellness space.
Take Dakota Johnson, for example. In 2020, the Fifty Shades of Grey star – often dubbed a modern sex symbol – partnered with sexual wellness brand Maude in an effort “to make intimacy better – for all people.” She launched her own line of sex toys, complete with lubricants, body washes, bubble baths, and soy-based massage candles. Through this collection, she aimed to show that sexual wellness isn’t just about satisfying primal urges – it’s also an act of self-care, just like eating well and exercising.

In 2021, Demi Lovato joined the movement by launching her own line of sex toys – the Demi Wand – in collaboration with sexual wellness brand Bellesa. Her goal (aside from a financial one)? To promote female empowerment by quite literally putting pleasure into women’s hands. The partnership encouraged women to take control of their bodies and explore their sexuality on a deeper, more personal level.
And she’s not alone. Other pop icons, like Christina Aguilera, have also stepped into the sexual wellness space. With her brand Playground, Aguilera set out to normalise conversations around female desire, celebrate women’s sexuality, dismantle outdated taboos, and reinforce the idea that sexual well-being is just as essential to self-care as skincare or mental health.
Sure, the growing trend of celebrities launching vibrators can be met with skepticism – it’s easy to question the profit-driven motives or worry about how it’s reshaping modern intimacy.
But it’s also worth giving credit where it’s due. These products go beyond offering instant gratification. They give women a chance to explore their bodies, learn their preferences, and reclaim agency over their sexuality. Sex toys have opened doors to conversations about pleasure, consent, and education – not just in private, but among partners and friends.
And perhaps most importantly, they’ve helped dismantle the outdated, conservative idea that female sexuality is passive – shifting the narrative away from male gratification and toward women’s own pleasure and power.
But what sets the Pleasing Yourself campaign apart is that it was initiated by a man. That alone also raises questions – after all, what could a man possibly know about female desire? But Harry Styles seemed aware of that, which is likely why he purposefully teamed up with a female sexual educator to ground the project in experience and insight.
So, in this case, Harry really does come across as a good man – someone who cares not just about how women look, but how they feel. And that, in itself, sets an important example for other men on how to prioritise their partner’s pleasure in bed. Because, as the stats show, women are generally not being pleased as much as men – with around 75% not reaching orgasm through intercourse alone.
Here’s hoping that now that the collection’s dropped – and already completely sold out – more men will start tuning in to their partners’ sexual well-being. And who knows? It might just lead to something that feels a lot like, in Harry’s own words, a watermelon sugar high.
