Helen Mirren Has Had Her Say On Meghan And Harry Stepping Down From The Royal Family
“Their instincts are absolutely correct”
Dame Helen Mirren has praised Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for their decision to step down as senior members of The Royal Family.
Announcing the news almost two months ago, their decision caused a lot of controversy, with many people sharing their conflicting thoughts on the situation.
Helen Mirren, however, has nothing but praise for the two, telling Variety that Meghan Markle was a ‘charming’ addition to the Royal Family.
“Meghan Markle was a fantastic addition to the royal family – charming, did everything right, was gracious, was sweet-natured, and seemed to be.. wow!” She said.
Continuing to speak about the couple’s decision to step back from their positions within the institution, Helen believes that their instincts are right, and she hopes that they will find comfort.
“So, I think it is a loss in a way (Meghan’s departure), but at the same time, I think their instincts are absolutely correct. And I think it will all, hopefully, sort itself out,
“And the tabloid pearl-clutches will get over their trauma at not having someone to attack all the time. They’ll find another victim… probably me” she continued.
Both Meghan and Harry’s time as working Royals come to an end on the 31st of March, and they will then begin a period of ‘transition’ for there on out.
Their intention is to step down as senior members and work to become financially stable, while still “continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen”.
They plan to split their time between the UK and North America, ensuring their son Archie will remain in touch with both of his roots.
