Here’s Everything We Know So Far About Amazon’s New Tiger King Series

It'll star Nicolas Cage as Joe Exotic

It’s difficult to cast our minds back to the Tiger King era of quarantine now – it was a different time, full of hope and optimism that this while malarky would be over in time for us all to head to EP. Now, we’re a bunch of pessimists, heading into the Winter absolutely not sans Corona, hard pushed to even remember what actually happened in Tiger King from when we watching it 5 months ago (it’s a lot to remember, tbf).

But, luckily for us, we won’t need to strain our little memory banks too much, as Amazon has just picked up a new series of the Tiger King saga, retelling Joe’s story from the beginning.

Here’s everything we know so far.

Who has been cast?

So far the only celebrity confirmed as a cast member is Nicolas Cage, who will of course be playing the part of Joe Exotic. There have been rumours of other major celebs taking part in it, such as Shia LaBeouf playing the role of Joe’s first husband, John Finlay, and Lindsay Lohan as Lauren Lowe, but at the minute this is all nothing but hearsay, so we’ll just have to hold tight.

What is it about?

A little different from the OG Tiger King docu-series, Deadline has reported that it will ” live in the lion’s den with Joe, explore how he became Joe Exotic, and how he lost himself to a character of his own creation.” The series will comprise of eight episodes, focusing mostly on Joe, before he was the infamous Joe Exotic, and the road he took to get where he is today.

When will it be released?

As of now, there is no release date, which isn’t a huge surprise amid a pandemic, really. It’s said that along with playing the role of Joe, Nicolas Cage is also acting as executive producer, and is hoping to have a trailer for us to see soon.

Aside from this series, there is also a spin-off mini-series in the pipelines, exploring the disappearance of Carole Baskin’s husband Don Lewis, which is set to air on the Discovery Channel soon.
