Here’s Why Fans Think Taylor Swift And Joe Alwyn Almost Split 2 Years Ago

It’s been months since Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn called it quits, after six years of dating.

However, fans have a new theory that the pair were on the rocks long before they officially broke up!

Where does the theory come from? An Instagram story posted by music collaborator Jack Antonoff, who worked on the song You’re Losing Me with Taylor.

In the story, Jack shows Taylor looking cute and cosy, having a snack in her kitchen at home.

He explains in the caption that Taylor sang and recorded You’re Losing Me the day he took the picture: “written and recorded at home on 12/5/21 right after Taylor ate these raisins”.

This has come as a shock to fans, as the bonus track from her Midnight’s album was released in May – one month after her and Joe went their separate ways.

Of course, when the song came out, fans assumed the emotional lyrics must have come to Taylor as the pair were deciding to break up.

Now though, many are wondering if the couple were on the rocks as far back as December 2021, when the Cruel Summer singer actually wrote it.

The song implies that Taylor has been stuck in a dying relationship, where everything she does isn’t good enough.

“How long could we be a sad song/ ‘Til we were too far gone to bring back to life?/ I gave you all my best me’s, my endless empathy/  And all I did was bleed”

The song also had people wondering if Taylor had been hoping for an engagement ring from Joe that didn’t manifest: “And I wouldn’t marry me either/
A pathological people pleaser/ Who only wanted you to see her/ And I’m fadin’, thinkin’/ Do something…lose something…risk something”.

Heavy stuff!

Of course, we know that even if Taylor and Joe were going through a sticky patch, they managed to get through it, as they were together for another two years until their break up in April of this year.

Or, there’s also the chance Taylor wasn’t necessarily speaking about her own relationship (though we know her fans probably won’t agree with us there!)
