How Much?! This Is What The World’s Highest Paid Actresses Earned This Year

Forbes released its list of highest paid actresses today and some of our favourite leading ladies have come out on top. Surprisingly, last year’s winner was knocked into third place, giving Oscar winner Emma Stone the number one spot.

The La La Land actress was named Hollywood’s top earning female, with an income of $26 million this year alone. She had previously spoken out about Hollywood’s gender pay gap, claiming that male co-stars had often taken cuts to ensure she was paid equally and fairly.

Speaking to Out Magazine, she said, “In my career so far, I’ve needed my male co-stars to take a pay cut so that I may have parity with them. And that’s something they do for me because they feel it’s what’s right and fair. That’s something that’s also not discussed, necessarily: that our getting equal pay is going to require people to selflessly say, ‘That’s what’s fair.’”

Jennifer Aniston came in second place, with earnings of $25.5 million. However, most of her income came from product endorsements, such as Emirates Airlines and Aveeno, rather than her acting career.

In third place is Jennifer Lawrence, who was at the top spot for two consecutive years, having taken in $24 million over the past 12 months. Not bad for a year’s work.

Melissa McCarthy, who earned $18 million, Mila Kunis, who earned $15.5 million, and Emma Watson, who earned $14 million, also made the top 10.
