How To Buy More Consciously When It Comes To Jewellery

Accessories that are stylish and have sustainability in mind with Pandora.

Whether it’s festival season, wedding season or just your monthly dinner date with friends, the right piece of jewellery can take your outfit to the next level. But with the trend cycle constantly changing, it can be easy to fall into the habit of picking up items for one outfit that you’ll never wear again. And as we all try to move away from overconsumption of clothes, we mustn’t forget that accessories count too.

Investing in pieces that will go with everything and will last a long time, is the way to go when it comes to jewellery, and Pandora is the ideal place to shop for those “forever pieces.”

Not only are they making stylish jewellery that can be worn with any outfit, they have also been working on their ambitious sustainability goals towards becoming a low-carbon business, driving circularity, and authentically embodying what it means to be an inclusive, diverse and fair organisation.

Sustainability is at the core of Pandora’s work. The jewellery is hand-finished in its crafting facilities in Thailand which use 100% renewable energy. The brand has also committed to stop the use of mined stones altogether, opting for manmade stones instead. These stones are identical to their mined counterparts but the process means they have a significantly lower carbon footprint.

Ensuring the long life span of their products, Pandora offers light in-store repair services in many locations, and surplus and faulty products are recycled, beginning the process once again.

Pandora’s efforts are going much further than just recycling, their Vice President of Sustainability Marissa Saretsky said, “Within our own business, one of the key focus areas in our sustainability strategy is to drive gender parity in our leadership In addition, we are committed to working with creatives and branding content suppliers that are owned by women or other underrepresented groups.

“Beyond the walls of our business, our longstanding partnership in place with UNICEF is helping provide girls and young women with resources that will empower them to make their own choices and achieve their dreams. To date, we have donated over £8.2 million towards UNICEF’s efforts, which has helped support more than 1.2 million young people with opportunities to learn, express themselves and find work in the future.”

Not only will you look amazing when you purchase your next favourite piece of jewellery, you can feel confident knowing you’re contributing to a more sustainable future.
