Instagram Responds To Kim Kardashian And Kylie Jenner’s Call-Out

Other celebs have chimed in...

Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner shared a post to their stories this week, which begs Instagram to return to a primarily static post platform. The post which the girls shared read, “Make Instagram Instagram again (Stop trying to be TikTok, I just want to see cute photos of my friends.) Sincerely, everyone.”

Under which Kim wrote, “PRETTY PLEASE” and Kylie wrote, “PLEASEEEEEEE”.

This gained a lot of attention, not only because they are two of the most followed people on the app (Kylie 3rd and Kim 7th), but because a lot of people agree with the statement and want Instagram to remain, well Instagram!

Now, CEO Adam Mosseri has responded with a video, saying he hears, he is listening, but also they can’t change it all back.

He said, “We’re going to continue to support photos…It’s part of our heritage.”

But he continued to say he believes that, “more and more of Instagram is going to become video over time,” and that they are “going to have to lean into that shift while continuing to support photos.”

This video didn’t go down too well with some well known creators with Adam inviting them to share feedback in the comment section and Chrissy Teigen shared her view.

Writing on Twitter she said, “We don’t want to make videos Adam lol”, to which Adam replied,

“If you don’t want to make videos, it’s better not to. What I want is an Instagram that is about photos who prefer photos, and is about videos for those who prefer that format.”

Well, there we have it, it is (hopefully) going to be whatever Instagram each individual prefers…We will have to wait and see how this works…
