Gas woman Joanne McNally has signed a book deal with Pengiun Books, and we need it on our bookshelves asap.
Always one to provide funny commentary on life’s most delicate offerings, Joanne’s book will focus on the topics of dating, sex, ageing, and more, all in bite-size essay format.
But, if you were hoping for it to appear under your Christmas tree this year, you’re out of luck, as it’s not set to be published until 2023. As of yet untitled, Penguin described it as:
“Funny, irreverent and relatable, blending personal memoir with cultural and social observations examining why we do the things we do”

Sharing that this has been a long-time ambition for her, Joanne tweeted the book news saying:
“I’ve always wanted to write a book and I could not be happier that I’m going to do it with Penguin”
“I started out in life wanting to be a journalist but was told I’d need to be prepared to sell my granny for a story and considering all my grannies were deceased, I didn’t feel I had the resources to pursue that dream, so to get an opportunity to write without having to traffic elderly people is very exciting!”
It’s been a huge year for Joanne professionally, and it seems 2022 is set to only get better too. Launching her podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me with pal Vogue Williams, the duo have been topping download charts since, with Joanne set to begin touring the UK and Ireland next year with her standup show ‘The Prosecco Express’. With 30 nights in Dublin’s Vicar Street, plus plenty more dates around the country, we can’t wait to have her here on Irish soil for a while.
Congrats Joanne!
