It’s a sad moment for Ireland as the Irish women’s football team were defeated by Canada today.

However, there’s still so much to celebrate – and we couldn’t be prouder of our girls in green!

They made history by becoming the first squad to qualify for the Women’s World Cup. And while they were defeated by Australia in their first match of the tournament last week, they still came back with a vengeance.

Today they made history once again by scoring Ireland’s first goal in the Women’s World Cup. Within the first five minutes, Ireland’s captain Katie McCabe scored a goal against Canada.

This is no easy feat as Canada are the current Olympic gold medalists.

Fans were overjoyed by Katie’s incredible goal.

The entire team are just incredible, and all of their hard work leading up to this won’t go unnoticed despite today’s result. COYGIG!
