Love Island’s Molly Smith: ‘It’s Good To Have Someone Who Celebrates You’

We caught up with Molly last week

She’s a Love Island winner, a fitness queen, and just last week, we caught up with Molly Smith at the opening of Ireland’s first Juice Jar on Dawson Street.

We got to chat to her about fitness, her summer plans with boyfriend Tom, and what keeps her motivated.

Here’s what she had to say.

Where do you find your motivation to work out?

I feel like motivation comes from how I feel after a workout. So I never regret it. I feel like the endorphins and everything, and how you’re mentally clear-headed, stress-free.

A nice gym set doesn’t hurt either. If you look good, you feel good.

What advice would you give to someone who is starting off on their fitness journey?

One piece of advice would be just to set yourself mini goals as well as like a big goal. Just move your body, even a little bit, get used to the environment, get used to the way you move.

Do you find having someone who has similar fitness goals and interests to you helps?

Oh of course! It’s so good having good support mechanisms around you. Tom’s always so motivating and we push each other. And it’s just good to have someone on that same wavelength as you as well, someone who celebrates you a little bit.

Give us a rundown of your typical morning routine.

My ideal morning routine is, this is going to sound really bad, but Tom will bring me a coffee in bed. Whilst I have cuddles with my dog and then I’d probably do a workout class within that hour.

So then I’d go, do a workout, anything that moves my body. At the minute I’m training for a half marathon, which isn’t going very well. And then, take my dog for a walk. And then cook some nice food and then Netflix and chill.

Amazing! Tell us about your dog?

Oh, Nelly, she’s so cute. She’s 11 this year, so she’s getting older. She’s gone all white round her face and everything. She’s so cute, but she’s a spoiled little diva but I love her.

And what’s on the cards for you next? Do you have any summer plans, or are you going to take it chill for a while?

Some of my best friend’s are getting married. So I’m going to be a bridesmaid, I think this is the ninth time that I’ve been a bridesmaid.

Nearly double digits. I’m so nearly over it now. If it wasn’t for my best friend, I’d be like, ‘ugh’. But yeah, so we’ve got hen-dos, we’ve got weddings, and then me and Tom are going to squeeze in a few holidays.

What’s your go to açai order?

My only two ingredients that I would have to have is banana and peanut butter. People who order an açai without peanut butter? I don’t get it. It’s crazy. Peanut butter is honestly just a game changer, so it has to have that.
