Mandy Moore Opened Up About The Time Wilmer Valderrama Lied About Taking Her Virginity

Boasting about bedding someone isn’t cool, but outright lying about it? That’s another thing entirely. Mandy Moore is setting the record straight about the time ex-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama told everyone he’d taken her virginity on live radio.

Speaking to Howard Stern in 2006, Wilmer said he had been Mandy’s first sexual experience, distastefully saying that while it “wasn’t like warm apple pie,” it was enjoyable.

At the time, the This Is Us actress called his comments “utterly tacky”. Now, over a decade on, she doesn’t hold a grudge but wants to clear the air.

“I dated him when I was 16, 17, no [he didn’t take my virginity],” she told Howard Stern on Wednesday.

I love him and I still love him and he’s a very good friend and that’s why I was so shocked by it. Not only was it a fib, but it was so unlike him, so uncharacteristic. He’s dated all the ladies. I met him at a photoshoot for some teen magazine when I was 15 — never French kissed a boy — he was like my first true boyfriend.

Mandy added that at the time her parents were upset by his crude comments, but the That 70s Show star tried to worm his way out of taking accountability for what he said.

“I remember in the moment he tried to explain it away — that he did get caught up and maybe insinuated more than outright said it,” she recalled. “And I said, ‘No, you outright said it.’ I was like, ‘Why would you ever talk about that with anybody and lie about it?’”

The actress talked about a few of her exes on the show, including her failed marriage to the American singer Ryan Adams. “I just chose the wrong person,” she explained.

We’re just different, we were not meant to be. It was a very lonely life. Someone who’s obsessed with themselves and obsessed with their work and wasn’t able to be a partner or husband. The anger subsided for me now. I have so much distance from it now, I have a different perspective.

Mandy is now engaged to musician Taylor Goldsmith, and the pair seem happy out. At this stage, you deserve it, girl.
