In a somewhat random piece of news, it turns out that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are dipping their toes into the romance film world.

The famous duo’s production company have picked up a script adapted from the Carley Fortune novel Meet Me At The Lake – and we think we can see why this particular story may have appealed to them.

The book follows two strangers, Will and Fern, who promise to meet again one year after a whirlwind 24 hour romance, only for Will not to show. Fast forward to nine years later, when Will arrives on Fern’s doorstep, but with a mysterious secret, leaving Fern to question everything. The drama!

Apparently the book is about all the imperfections and messiness of real love. The plot handles tough topics, including dealing with the loss of a parent in a car crash, and postpartum struggles. We can see why it may have struck a chord with Meghan and Harry, considering the own difficulties they’ve had to face in their lives.

The Netflix adaptation was confirmed by author Carley in an Instagram post.

She wrote, “I’m thrilled to confirm that I’m teaming up with Netflix and Archewell productions on the adaption of Meet Me at the Lake”, adding “I can’t imagine a more perfect partnership”.

While we’ve no info yet on when the film is coming or who will play the main characters, we can’t wait to see how it all pans out.
