The Bridgerton and Derry Girls star is the latest celeb to be victim to scam accounts pretending to be her, or a member of her team in order to get private information from followers.
Taking to her Instagram stories today Nicola shared a screenshot of a fake account messaging fans offering to connect them with Nicola. She wrote, “Hello! No one I work with agent/publicist etc will ever DM you please ignore and report. I know some people are being asked for money too, that is 100% a scam.”
Along with another screenshot of someone pretending to be her, she wrote, “I also don’t do DMs so anything you’re getting ‘from me’ is not from me, definitely block these people and don’t give them any info.”
Nicola isn’t the only Irish star to be victim to this type of scam, with Vogue Williams recently warning followers to ignore any DMs claiming to be her. The presenter thanked fans for bringing the issue to her attention, writing on her Instagram story, “Thanks to everyone sending me on the links to people using my image. I do not endorse any kind of weight loss product. They are bulls*** and don’t work.”
