Oprah Winfrey is coming to Drew Barrymore’s defence over their latest interview together.

The iconic talk show host was in the hot seat for once, being interviewed by Drew on The Drew Barrymore Show.

The intimate chat was classic of Drew’s usual interviewing style; very informal and personal. But some viewers were concerned by how close Drew got to Oprah, and the way she held her hand.

Fans took to social media to comment on how Drew was “invading” Oprah’s “personal space”, and to discuss the idea of physical boundaries.

One Instagram user commented on a clip of the show, “Stop being so invasive of her space…all the touching is unnecessary! Look at how uncomfortable it is for Oprah and all your other guests.”

However, Oprah has now come out to ensure people that she had no issue with Drew’s behaviour whatsoever.

Speaking to TMZ, Oprah shared that she “was not uncomfortable at all. I’ve never seen her do that, but I thought it was endearing.”

She stressed that she was “actually comforted by the stroking of the arm,” adding, “Drew is terrific. I love that she is always herself.”

Other attendees of the show came to Drew’s defence too.

One commenter on Instagram wrote, “I was in the audience that day and Drew‘s nature was tender and caring.

“I didn’t get weird vibes at all. Oprah seemed very receptive and their relationship has gone back a very long time.”

We have to say, if any woman knows how to set a boundary, it’s probably Oprah – so we reckon we can believe that she was comfy with whatever was going on.

Definitely an interesting interview!
