The 76th annual Tony Awards were underway last night at the United Palace in New York City.
In true theatrical fashion, the awards had a dramatic “will they, won’t they” dynamic going on for some time, due to the ongoing writers strike.
The brightest stars on the stage came together for the prestigious award ceremony hosted by West Side Story and Hamilton star Ariana DeBose for the second year in a row. The awards are presented by the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony in Manhattan.
This year’s most-nominated show was Some Like It Hot with 13 nods, while Juliet, New York, New York and Shucked followed closely with 9 nominations.
Best actress nominations included Jessica Chastain for her leading role in A Doll’s House, and Jodie Comer, Ben Platt, and Audra McDonald were also among the acting nominees.
