They say life imitates art, or vice-versa in this instance for You actor, Penn Badgley.
In August 2020, Penn and his wife Domino Kirke welcomed their son into the world, just over a year before he was destined to embark on the same journey on screen with Love Quinn, played by Victoria Pedretti, as they welcome their first child into the world, a little boy named Henry.
Thankfully, however, that’s where the imitation ends, as Penn explains that his own journey into fatherhood has been nothing short of joyous, unlike his onscreen character’s.
“The funny thing is I was curious what my new fatherhood, how that would influence my experience with Joe and acting with him, and sometimes it was almost not helpful because I was having such a light and joyful experience – still am – and Joe is so petrified,” explained the 34-year-old when speaking with Access.

Unlike his onscreen c0-star Victoria, who explained that not having a child meant she could “come at it as a character,”, Penn noted that recently having a child made the transition into a TV dad, murderer and stalker that bit more challenging. I mean, no surprise there.

“He’s so scared, and of course I can identify with the fear, but he’s just so morbid in his obsessive, sort of like self-preservation, primal instinct that sometimes I almost found it harder as a result, you know what I mean? It really depended on the scene,” the actor continued.
Well, we’ve no doubt he aced the performance, anyways and on Friday, October 15th the third and highly anticipated season of You drops.
10 months after when fans originally thought they’d be getting the next instalment due to the pandemic, this one has been long awaited and we cannot wait to binge watch it all.
