Penn Badgley Explores New Role For Season Four Of “You”
Well hello you...

When it comes to acting, Penn Badgley has it down (I mean, it really does take a certain type of person to take on the disturbing role of Joe Goldberg), but now it looks like the actor is branching out a little and sitting in the director’s chair for the latest season of You, which will see him direct an episode.
Showrunner, Sera Gamble confirmed the news by sharing a snap of Penn wearing headphones while overseeing a scene play-out on set, writing, “We hired a new director this season but he seems to know the show really, really well.”
After playing the character of Joe for 4 seasons, we couldn’t imagine anyone better for the role and for Penn, this really is a full circle moment, who opened up last month about the note he “always” gets from the directors while filming You.

Specifically, Penn revealed on his Podcrushed podcast that he’s been instructed to make masturbation scenes “less creepy,” to which he responded “I’m making it creepy? How is it I’m the one making it creepy?”
Production for the latest season started earlier this year with it expected to wrap up soon and if the on-set photos are anything to go by, fans can expect Joe Goldberg to be back to his old scheming ways.
Penn’s co-stars were quick to commemorate the news, with You newcomer Lukas Gage commenting, “A natural!” and season two favourite Jenna Ortega writing, “You’re kidding!!! So so cool.” While James Scully, who played Forty in the second season, expressed a similar comment, “Wow wow wow like he couldn’t get more dreamy.” We couldn’t agree more!

As far as the storyline goes? Well, after faking his death, killing his wife and leaving his son (yikes, why do we like this show again? Ah yes Penn Badgley), it looks like Joe’s journey will continue with him carrying even more inner turmoil as he attempts to create a new life for himself in France.
Although there is no official launch date, it is slated to air between late 2022 and early 2023.
We can’t wait!
