The days of quick getaways are behind us, as it looks like more and more people are opting for bigger summer holidays each year. From excursions around Thailand to American road trips, last summer our Instagram feeds were absolutely flooded with extravagant holiday pics leaving us feeling jealous and disappointed with our one weekers in Spain.

If you’re hoping to plan a big holiday this year, UK company Hertz have conducted a survey of the most Instagram-worthy road trips in the world. Coming out on top is the famous Route 66, which runs from Chicago to Los Angeles, so across almost the entire country. Along the way, you can stop at the Grand Canyon and the Pacific Coast Highway, which are also the second and third locations on the list.

Although there are no Irish routes on the list (sorry what about the ring of Kerry?), there are some closer destinations that may take your fancy. Here are the top ten.
