Following the announcement of Beyoncé’s new collaboration with Disney, we have some even more great news to share. Yesterday, Tan France shared that he has officially become a US citizen. The Queer Eye star, who was born in Doncaster, UK, emigrated to the US in 2015, shared his exciting news with his followers on Instagram, and that he wants to vote for change.

“For me, this is monumental,” he wrote, alongside photos of him taking the oath during a socially distanced ceremony, and with his husband Rob.

“It’s something I’ve been working towards for literally 20 years, which makes this all the more emotional. And now, I will exercise my constitutional right as an American. Today, I will register to vote, and vote for the change I wish to see in OUR nation.”

Thousands of people flocked to congratulate Tan, including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who wrote “Congratulations! Our country is better with you as part of it.”

This comes just after the latest season of Queer Eye landed on Netflix (if you haven’t binged it yet, I’d fully recommend it), and the show has been renewed for yet another season, where Karamo, Antoni, Bobby, Jonathan and Tan will be returning for more life-changing makeovers.

However, Tan’s other Netflix show, Next In Fashion, has not been renewed for another season. Announcing the news, Tan told Variety, “we’re not doing a second a season. This is a one-season show, we don’t know what will happen in the future, but it was honestly one of the proudest things I’ve ever worked on. I love the show and Alexa so much,”

“My focus is definitely on Queer Eye and moving forward with that.” he continued.
