Rita Ora Reveals She Almost Gave Up On Making Music
She’s back and “happier than ever”.
If you’re a fan of Rita Ora then you’ll know her newest body of work You & I is one filled with empowering words and messages, but in a recent interview with PEOPLE the singer also revealed she was close to throwing in the towel when it came to her music.
Rita managed to grab her first record deal at the tender age of 16. She shot to global fame in the early 2010s finding success with a number of UK charting songs. In 2015, she sued her record label, Roc Nation for neglect while they countersued for breach of contract.
She later signed with Atlantic Records for her second album, Phoenix which was a roaring success but sadly she wasn’t reaping the benefits as her songs ultimately belonged to Atlantic Records, a situation Taylor Swift found herself in prior to her decision to re-record her first six albums.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Rita revealed she eventually felt burnt out and unsure if she wanted to make another album.
She said: “It was about, ‘OK,now I want to be able to do this again with owning my own music,’ and that battle was hard. I just felt like, ‘is it worth it? I don’t know’. I guess I just started to really question my strength.”
But early last year, the English hit maker was approached by BMG Rights Management with a new record deal that would allow her to own anything she creates under their name..
She said: “They just came on board and were like, ‘Listen, whatever you want. We’d love to be a part of the journey’.”

So it seems between the new record deal and her relationship with Taika Waititi, who she married back in August last year, Rita is inspired and loving life at the minute, two components that make for a rather epic new album release.
Yes it seems we’ve a lot to thank for her new album, You & I.
Rita said: “Good ol’ Rita got back up on her feet. I reconnected with everything in my life that needed to be fulfilled, and that’s when my third album started.”
