Sam Asghari Breaks Silence On Britney Spears Breakup

News broke this week that Britney Spears and Sam Asghari would be separating after six years together and one year of marriage.

While Britney took to Instagram to share an unrelated update about her personal life, neither had commented publicly until last night when Sam posted a story addressing any speculation.

Writing on his story, Sam confirmed the divorce filing, and shared that he would  he and Britney would “hold onto the love and respect” that they have for each other.

Without giving a further explanation, he wrote that “shit happens”, and that asking for privacy seems ridiculous, though he would ask for the media to be “kind and thoughtful”.

The post comes amid rumours that Sam had been planning to contest the prenup set out by Britney ahead of their wedding.

However, Brandon Cohen, a representative for Sam, told the Hollywood Reporter that these claims are false.

“There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,  Brandon said. He added that “no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”

Since Sam’s public response, Britney has shared two cryptic Instagram posts, where she is examining artwork. On one piece of a woman sleeping, Britney wrote in the caption “Sometimes you see more with your eyes closed!!!”.

She has not yet addressed the divorce publicly, though she is allegedly considering an offer for a tell all interview with Oprah.
