Emily In Paris Season 5 Is Coming – Here’s What We Know

Emily in Paris is set to return to our screen in the coming weeks, as it was confirmed by Netflix that season 5 of the hit show will air on December 18. And the drop couldn’t come at a more perfect time as we head towards lazy cozy days between Christmas and New Year where we can binge watch an entire series in one sitting!

The trailer for season five was posted by Netflix this week, and already we can see the chaos, drama and of course glamor that this season has in store for us!

But before we unpack everything we know about this new season, let’s have a little recap of where we left Emily off.

At the start of season 4, we see Emily and Alfie break up, after they decide being apart is better for them both, especially after the truth between Emily and Gabriel was revealed at his impromptu wedding to Camille.

Speaking of Camille, as her relationship with Gabriel ends due to her affair with Sofia and the revelation that her pregnancy was in fact a false positive, we see her take a step back as she navigates life break broken over the loss of her child and single life. While her storyline came to a natural halt, it seems that Camille has left Paris to focus on herself, and what her future looks like.

With his relationship ended for good, we see Gabriel and Emily rekindle their romance after he confesses his love for her. And just when it seemed that Gabriel and Emily were finally going to have their happy ending, of course another sickling handsome man changes their faith – Italian businessman, Marcello, appears on the scene and shifts Emily’s mindset.

As we head through the series, we see the ups and downs of Agency Gâteau, and a major move for the business, as Silvie opens an office in Rome after Emily lands a 6-month contract with Marcello’s family business. But it leaves Emily with a tough decision to make – does she focus on her career and move to Rome or stay with the familiar streets and faces of Paris?

We ultimately see her decision during the final episode as we she her look out to an Italian view, with her gorgeous Italian boyfriend roaming in the background!

Now that we are all caught up, let’s see what’s in store for us in season 5.

Netflix confirmed that the main assemble of the cast would be returning for season 5. Even Lucas Bravo who plays Gabriel will be making an appearance, after many were unsure whether if he would return after some comments he made about his feelings for his character.

He said in an interview with IndieWire, that in recent seasons “I’ve never been so far away from him”. He added that in “In season 1, there was a lot of me in him. But as they made him unaware of his surroundings and the dynamics, it became not fun for me to shoot”. We are glad to hear that he will be making his return – we have to know if Emily and Gabriel can make it together!

However, it is confirmed that the actress Camille Razat, who plays Camille, will not be returning for this season. She shared the news via Instagram after she had a discussion with the show’s creator Darren Star where they both concluded that Camille’s storyline had come to a natural end.

While we are saying goodbye to one cast member, we are gaining two more as Bryce Greenberg from Suits LA and Michele Laroque from The Closet are making their debut this season.

One major concern that fans had was whether or not the show will be moved to Rome, leaving its Paris roots behind. But creators of the show have said it some scenes will take place in Italy; it will still very much centre around Paris!

From the trailer we see some major new plot lines that will be sure to create some Parisian chaos, as we see Alfie make his return with the screen with a new love interest, Mindy. Fans of the show have shared their reactions to the flirtatious clip of the two, with some thrilled at this news and others in complete shock!

We also see how Emily is getting on in Rome, as she faces struggles with the new office and clients. With Paris still in her heart, and seeming like her forever home, we watch as she figures out what’s best for her as she bumps into some familiar French faces along the way.
