For the past months, everyone’s been buzzing about the upcoming Tommy Fury and Jake Paul fight. Tommy has a successful boxing career, is a member of the famous Fury boxing family, and was a fan favourite during his time on Love Island.

While Jake is a well known social media personality and former Disney star who is relatively new to the sport. Despite this, he has already taken on Floyd Mayweather and Tyron Woodley.

Given both of their celeb status, everyone was pretty excited about their match. Still, despite that anticipation, the fight has been cancelled.

Jake announced on Twitter that Tommy Fury had pulled out of the match, alluding to Tommy’s poor health as the reason.

In a video post to Instagram, Tommy explained he had to pull out of the fight due to an infection and broken rib. Saying, “Training Camp couldn’t have gone any better for me for the first week, two weeks. But then I contracted a bacterial chest infection which led me to go to the gym, and just not being able to breathe.

“I had the mindset of I’m going to keep training. I’m going to get through this. I’m going to fight no matter what. And four weeks passed, and we decided to have a sparring session, and I took a little clip to the body, and because my body was so weak due to the virus inside of me, I instantly knew something wasn’t right.

“I was throwing up from the pain I was doubled over. I literally got my bag and went straight to the hospital straight for an MRI scan. And I got the results back the same day, and the results uncovered that I had a clean break.

“It took their doctor and my whole team to really say listen, you’ve got a broken rib and multiple fractures here like you can’t fight, and even now sitting here filming this video hasn’t really sunk in, I’m not fighting.”

Tommy then thanked his fans for the support and spoke of a rescheduled date, “Finally, guys, just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who supported me throughout the whole training camp. Obviously, everyone’s gonna have their own opinions about the situation and what they think, but there is nothing when it comes down to it I can do about being medically unfit.”

Honestly, there was a lot of pressure on Tommy, so it is pretty courageous that he put his health above all else. However, Jake didn’t seem to think so.

In a video on Twitter, Jake said, “”It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing’s biggest b****. He has pulled out of the fight. The Furys have pulled out of the fight due to a medical condition.

“Who knows what the f*** is going on in that camp? I think he has a bad case of purseitis. I couldn’t believe the news at first, it still doesn’t even seem real.

“He fumbled the biggest bag of his life. Now he’ll be watching at home, paying $60 instead of being paid millions of dollars to fight me.”

Jake Paul is now set to fight Tyron Woodley in a rematch on December 18th.
