Yikes! Here’s How Much Exercise It Will Take To Burn Off Your Christmas Dinner!

It's a LOT.

Calorie counting goes out the window at Christmas as we indulge in everything from selection boxes to turkey sandwiches, but have you ever wondered exactly how much exercise you’d need to do to burn off your festive feast?

According to research by Wren Kitchens, the average person would have to walk the dog for a whopping 19 hours, 19 minutes, and 40 seconds to burn off the 5,373 calories in their Christmas dinner! Don’t have a dog? You could always swim for 11 hours and 35 minutes, or cycle with moderate effort for nine hours and 50 minutes.

According to the survey, we eat nearly three times the recommended daily calorie intake for women, and over twice the recommended amount for men, on 25th December… all those Cadbury Roses add up, after all.

While it’s important to be mindful of what we’re eating on a daily basis, we don’t see why we can’t enjoy some over-indulgence at Xmas. It only comes around once a year, and those roast potatoes are just *too* good to miss.

Nutritionist, Zuzanna Sobocinska ANutr, says, “introducing a healthy, balanced diet along with regular exercise straight after Christmas is a recommended way to reverse Christmas Day’s indulgence.”
