Selena Gomez Only Washes Her Hair Once A Week And This Is Why
Step away from the shampoo.
Let’s be honest, Selena Gomez is total and utter hair #goals, so if she told us to rub goat poo into our locks, we’d probably do it.
But it turns out that the singer is actually fairly low-maintenance when it comes to her haircare.
Her pro tip for keeping thick locks manageable? Do nothing.
Yup, Selena says she rarely washes her hair on two consecutive days, revealing to Allure that she tends to leave three or – and often four – days between washes.
“I don’t wash my hair everyday, which may sound gross, but it’s actually really bad for my hair,” she explained.
“Some of my best friends actually can’t go more than maybe two days without washing their hair [we reckon fine-haired Taylor Swift is on that list], and for me, I give my mom and my dad all the credit, because I have thick hair, so it gets better the less I wash it.”

Selena’s Mexican-Italian genes mean her hair is naturally full and thick, and she says days three and four are her styling sweet spots.
“By the third day, my hair actually holds pretty well. It just holds curls better, and it holds product better. It’s so strange, but it actually works.
“I just use a little dry shampoo, and I tease it to keep the volume up. Usually by day four is when I have to absolutely wash it.”
Handy or wha? Of course, the singer makes no secret of the fact that she relies on hair extensions to add volume and length to her locks, admitting in an interview last year that the majority of her hair was “very fake.”
But all the same, any kind of hair regime that involves less washing, conditioning and blow-drying than we currently have to put up with is fiiiine by us.
