Simply Be Slammed For Not Using ‘Curvy Enough’ Models In Their Latest Campaign.
Customers feel that the models are too ‘normal sized’, and do not reflect the curvy women they're supposed to represent.
Plus-size clothing brand, Simply Be, are in the firing line for not using curvy enough models in their latest campaign imagery.
The campaign, which is called We Are Curves, features models Iskra Lawrence, Marquita Pring and Denise Bidot, who are promoting the retailer’s new denim collection.
Despite the fact that all three of the models are known for being plus size ambassadors, many Simply Be customers feel that they’re too ‘normal sized’, and do not reflect the curvy women they’re supposed to represent.
Their argument is that ‘plus-size’ is not a ‘one size fits all’ description, as real women like you and I embody all sorts of shapes and sizes. They believe that the diversity of women’s shapes should be reflected in the We Are Curves imagery.
Have @SimplyBeUK made some kind of mistake? ‘We are curves’ although non of the models in the advert are big, just normal sized women?

Just seen the new #simplybe advert and was thinking how great it was that the models had normal figures , then realised its a ‘plus size’ ad

Simply Be responded to the criticism, saying they are devoted to “all different shapes and sizes in the way that our customers are all different shapes and sizes. In previous campaigns we have featured blogger, Gabi Fresh, a size 22, alongside Iskra Lawrence who is a size 14.”
