It turns out there's a lot more to them than meets the eye.

It’s almost time for us to completely binge the second season of Bridgerton. After the success of season one, it feels like we’ve been waiting forever to see what happens next.

And of course, we all know it contains some pretty steamy scenes, after all, there’s a reason why Ashton Kutcher was convinced Mila Kunis was watching porn when really he just woke up in the middle of a Bridgerton scene.

But saying that, it turns out that a lot of thought goes into these scenes and it’s not all that it seems.

Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony Bridgerton, explained in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly that there’s much more to it than just sex. “There’s so many people who will go, ‘Oh yeah, Bonkerton.’ “But the female gaze is so important because there are many ways people communicate by sex, and what sex means, and what your body means to someone else.

“It’s important that there’s an inversion of sexuality and how people are exploited in the storytelling of sex.”

Later in the same interview, new cast member Simone Ashley (who you may know from Sex Education) added that her character, Kate Sharma, certainly plays into this more than Phoebe Dynevor’s Daphne Bridgerton.

“There’s always been a familiarity deep down with what Kate wants,” she explains. “That’s what I love about shows like Bridgerton and Sex Education; They might be touching on slightly taboo topics, but these characters know what they want.”

Honestly, just give us season two already.
