Daisy Edgar-Jones Reveals Her Boyfriend’s Reaction To Those Normal People Sex Scenes

Easily one of the most talked-about shows of 2020 (or maybe even the past decade?) Normal People has certainly taken over our lives as of late. Not only was it the storylines and Connell’s chain that got people talking, but the oh so memorable sex scenes certainly had the whole of Ireland talking.

As we already know, Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays Marianne, is all loved up with Game Of Thrones actor Tom Varey. So we can’t help but imagine that watching those sex scenes with her real-life boyfriend was a bit tense. Now, Daisy has given some insight into what Tom was like watching her with her on-screen boyfriend, and yes, he did cringe a bit.

Speaking on the ‘How to Fail with Elizabeth Day’ podcast, Daisy opened up about Tom’s reaction, saying that he handled it incredibly. “My boyfriend actually, he was amazing because what a tricky thing to watch,” she admitted. “He loves the series, thank goodness. That’s something I’m very relieved about.”

She continued, “But, there was a moment in episode six where he was like: ‘This is a bit weird. Oh, this is weird!’ And we all have to acknowledge that it was a bit weird, and then it was fine.”

Well, fair play to him all the same!

While Tom Varey’s reaction couldn’t have gone better, producers of the hit show have had a bit of a battle on their hands when it comes to the sex scenes in the show, having to ask PornHub to take the show’s scenes off their site. Executive producer Ed Guiney, spoke about this, saying, “We’re hugely disappointed that excerpts from the series of Normal People have been used in this way. It’s both a violation of copyright and more importantly, it’s deeply disrespectful to the actors involved and to the wider creative team.” Read more about that right here.
