Lottie Ryan Reveals She Was Left ‘Shook’ By Mum-Shaming Messages Online

This week, popular radio host Lottie Ryan returned to work for the first time after the birth of her adorable son, Wolf. But since then, Lottie has opened up about mum-shaming messages that she received online in the wake of returning to work.

During her first show back on air at RTÉ 2FM this week, Lottie shared how she was excited to be back at work, but also nervous that it was Wolf’s first time in the creche.

“I didn’t sleep last night. It’s such a strange, strange feeling because I’m so excited to be back, and I’m so nervous for Wolf starting creche.”

Lottie then opened up about hurtful messages she received online about sending Wolf to creche.

“I was shook by some of the messages that other mothers sent me. You know it was a difficult week for me, it is not easy putting your kid into creche, and it is very emotional and he is very young.

“I was getting messages from some mothers saying, ‘Oh my God Lottie, how could you put a beautiful young baby into creche at this age, it’s an absolute disgrace, you should be ashamed of yourself’.”

She continued, “It did really upset me, because I’m new to this and I am really learning. I’m a complete novice and I don’t know what I am doing and I’m figuring things out as I go and I have to come back to work.”

Lottie then added that when she looked at some of the profiles who were sending her messages, she saw that they were also mothers. She added that this annoyed her further as they know “nothing about me”.
