Love Island 2025 kicks off next week, if you weren’t aware.

To celebrate we caught up with stars Toby Aromolaran and Catherine Agbaje ahead of the newest season to find out their advice for this year’s islanders.

Toby was a runner up on the seventh season of Love Island in 2021, while Catherine appeared on the tenth season in 2023. Earlier this year, they both appeared on the second season of Love Island: All Stars.

“Now I know so much about love”, Toby told us, before sharing his advice.

“Just throw yourself in there. Try and not overthink anything and just throw yourself into the process of finding love. Like, let yourself go basically.”

Catherine agreed and added: “Yes, just let your guard down, I feel like that’s important. Us girls, we like to hold onto stuff and unintentionally bring it into new relationships.

“Sometimes you might have an idea of what you want, but truly, no one knows what love is until you feel it. It’s a feeling.”

The pair also gave us an insight into balancing friendships and relationships on the show. Catherine explained that it’s important that the girls have each other’s backs during their time in the villa.

She said: “Me, I am just a friendly person. I get along with everyone. If you have a problem with me, it’s a problem with yourself.

“Naturally I bounced off all the girls. I was just there for all the girls. For anyone going in, make sure you have your girlies.”

She added, “You know, you’re looking for love. You’re going to have to step on toes, but once you become friends with certain people, they’ll understand.

“Like, everyone knows everyone is there for the same reasons. Just be honest and direct and not go behind each other’s backs.”

Toby, however, admitted he found it hard to balance bro-code and friendships during his time in the villa.

“I would’ve said that you’re in there for yourself, personally, to find love,” he said. “At the end of the day, they’re your friends, they’re not going to be in your relationship.

“But also, I do feel like you need to sieve through and be like ‘if that’s my best friend in there, I’m not going to go for his girl’. That’s bro-code in a way”.

Catherine agreed: “But it’s so hard”.

Toby finished off by admitting: “Someone’s going to be sad, you just need to choose who you want to be sad!

“Do you want it to be the girl, do you want it to be the guy, do you want it to be yourself? So, you have to just choose,” he laughed.

Sage advice, honestly.
