This Is When ‘The Bold Type’ Season 5 Will Be Released

Plus everything we know so far

The Bold Type

Okay, we have some good news and some bad news for The Bold Type fans. The good – season five of the hit series is coming in hot. The bad – sadly, it’ll be the final series for the characters we’ve grown to know and love.

The show follows three colleagues and BFF’s, Jane, Kat, and Sutton as they navigate their highly hectic lives in glossy women’s magazine ‘Scarlet’. After binging all four series during lockdown, we’ve seen the gals go through a lot together, leaving us hungry for more. Luckily for us, more is on the way, and it’s landing real soon.

This week it was announced that season five of the show will drop on Freeform on the 26th of May, and Hulu on the 27th. Unfortunately, for those who were watching the show on Netflix, there has been no confirmation on when or even if season five will land on the streaming service, meaning Hulu is your best bet for Irish viewers.

Unlike other seasons which boasted 10+ episodes, season five is going with quality over quantity, with 6 juicy episodes for us to get stuck into. So, what can we expect from the season?

Well, we can safely assume that our fave three ladies will be back, Kat, Jane and Sutton, along with other familiar faces. The official synopsis teases that the girls are just about there in terms of ‘finding themselves’, with season five about to bring their entire story up until now full circle, picking up exactly where we left off in season four, leaving us with SO many questions.

“On the brink of defining who they really are and how best to leave their mark on the world”

It hasn’t been confirmed yet if Sam Page will return to play Businessman Richard, or if Adam Capriolo will reprise his role as Jacqueline’s assistant Andrew. We’re also hopeful that we’ll get answers to Sutton and Richard’s love story too, with a possible reconciliation on the cards, as Showrunner Wendy Straker Hauser told TV Line.

“I feel that Richard and Sutton have much more to explore. They both need to explore themselves first, though. They haven’t hit real, huge roadblocks before… I certainly don’t think the door is closed forever. But we’ll all discuss it in season 5”

While all that still leaves us with many unanswered questions, we’ll just have to wait until May 27th to finally rest easy.
