34 seconds was just not enough
When we got wind during the summer that there would be a Gavin And Stacey Christmas special airing later on this year we immediately knew that our Christmas 2019 just got 100x better.
We’ve been told that the one-off episode will give fans a little look into what each of their favourite characters is up to now, and I think we all have our own ideas of what we want them to be doing.
While the actual storyline is absolutely under wraps, the BBC has just released a new trailer and we have to be honest, the 34-second teaser just was not enough – but beggars can’t be choosers we suppose.
In the very short clip, Bryn is seen flying around the kitchen in full-on meltdown mode, desperately trying to make Christmas dinner come together as Stacey and Nessa look on in horror.
James Corden, who plays everyone’s fave, Smithy, recently spoke about the series special, saying that it took a while for the story to come together, admitting that picking up where they left off wasn’t as easy as they had anticipated.

“We’d written about 40 pages, and we sat and we read it and we both went “this just isn’t good enough. It doesn’t feel like the show”
“There was a real silence in this room, a sense of maybe we were too naive to think we could pick it up.”
Continuing he said: “We went round and round, and it was probably about midnight – Ruth here with her laptop, me pacing around – and as soon as we had let it go, an idea arrived, maybe the quickest scene was finished, we had no choice. We said, ‘well now we have to make it.’”
And make it they did. Although the 34-second clip far from filled the Gavin and Stacey sized hole in our lives, it certainly whets our appetite for what’s to come. Roll on the 25th of December.
