Wait, What Actually Happened With Britney Spears and Colin Farrell?

They dated for a hot minute

Britney Spears and Colin Farrell: an early noughties relationship that feels like a fever dream.

Except it wasn’t, it actually happened. For two or so weeks, anyway.

Britney and Colin dated for a brief period following Britney’s high profile split from Justin Timberlake. The star met the Dublin actor through a friend, while visiting the set of S.W.AT.

So, what happened?

Well, according to Britney’s memoir The Woman In Me, the pair engaged in a “brawl”. No, not that kind of brawl. The other one.

She wrote: “Brawl is the only word for it — we were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight.

“As I had before when I’d felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was not a big deal, that we were just having fun, that in this case, I was vulnerable because I wasn’t over Justin yet.”

The pair attended the premier of The Recruit together, and despite the rumours, Colin told press at the time that there was nothing serious between them.

He called Britney a “sweet, sweet girl” and said they were “just mates.”

At the premiere Britney wore a piece of La Perla PJ top and a pair of leather pants. She referenced the outfit in a recent Instagram post.

“Last time I wore an actual nightgown out was a La Perla nightgown at a premiere with Colin Farrell…” she wrote.

“I wonder why conservatorship had me wear three layers of tights for 20 years hmmm???”

Spears also discussed the outfit (which is very cute, no?) in her memoir, saying: “In the course of our fun time together, [Farrell] took me to the premiere of a spy thriller he was in called The Recruit with Al Pacino.

“I wore a pajama top. I thought it was a real shirt because it had miniature studs on it but I see the photos and I think, ‘Yeah, I definitely wore a full-blown pajama top to Colin Farrell’s premiere.'”

According to reports at the time, Colin later sent Britney a T-shirt saying: “I slept with Colin Farrell and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.”
