These Are The Top 10 New Fitness Trends You’ll Be Seeing In 2016
We love new ways to workout. Here's what's going to be big in fitness next year.
One of the best ways to ensure you stick to your workout schedule and hit your fitness goals is to constantly switch it up and try new things so you don’t get bored, so we’re only delirah when we hear about a brand new fitness trend that’s going to revolutionise our time spent at the gym.
The good news is that next year is set to be chocker with new ways to keep fit and the American College Of Sports Medicine have compiled a list of the fitness trends that are going to be huge in the coming 12 months.
Interestingly, it’s programmes that focus on building muscle and strength that are growing in popularity, while working out to lose weight is significantly further down the list. #StrongIsTheNewSkinny, eh?
These are the workouts the American College Of Sports Medicine reckon will be big next year:
1. Wearable Technology (That’s stuff like smart watches and fitness trackers, FYI)
2. Bodyweight training
3. High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)
4. Strength training
5. More people training to become fitness professionals
6. Personal training over at-home fitness
7. Functional Fitness (That’s using strength training to improve balance)
8. Fitness programs for older adults
9. Exercise and weight loss.
10.Yoga.
Wanna know what’s going to be big in Ireland? Personal trainer Amanda Moroney has her own predictions. “I think functional fitness, HIIT, outdoor training and strength training will continue to grow in popularity,” she tells us. “Girls want results and want them fast and these methods of training are the most efficient way to boost metabolic function and build lean muscle, which helps with dropping body fat,” she explains.
“Self-taught yoga is becoming very popular and trendy too, as it’s deceptively challenging and can be done from the comfort of your own home.
“More experienced and qualified professionals are also an important aspect of the fitness market for 2016. The industry has grown at an incredible rate and appropriate qualifications and knowledge are key aspects to ensure we continue to grow in the right direction.”
